Cut Down The Head Bangers – Trail Work
Went to Stephens today and worked 1 mile in/out of Lower Maze, and 1/2 mile in/out at the NICA Trail (Blue Rock) with loppers and a corona saw. I focused mostly on branches in 4 different spots that were low enough for a helmet to bang on. On my walk out, I did spend some time using the corona saw as a machete to cut down any face slappers and thorn bushes. Here are some before and after photos.
Building New Trails at Stephens!
Trail work at Stephens on Sunday was fun. Went to help out a JORBA crew. Got there and saw that NICA was also there. So all-in-all, more than 50 awesome people showed up!!! The energy of the people was the best.

Stephens Trail Maintenance
Did some trail maintenance work at Stephens today. Basically we ran through a few miles of Maze and Trestle with hedge trimmers. Didn’t take many photos though.
Axe what you can do for your country
“Axe not what your country can do for you. Axe what you can do for your country.”
Trail building at Lew Mo. Fun stuff.
I didn’t realize how smooth and flowy it is
I didn’t realize how smooth and flowy it is until I went back to ride it. It’s natural to get in the zone of cutting branches, raking leaves, shoveling dirt. That zone is necessary to do a good job. Then when you snap out of that micro-focus to take a step back and look at the big picture, it’s very satisfying. This trail is a nice addition to Lew Mo. Can’t wait to build more in October.
We Built A New Trail
Woke up at the crack of dawn, met a bunch of awesome people in the woods, and we cut a new MTB trail at Lewis Morris.
